We hold high quality biodiversity & geodiversity data for Northamptonshire. You can find the latest full breakdown of our sites, species and habitat data holdings in our annual report.
We work as part of a group of eight Local Records Centres in the East of England with a common purpose: “the collection, management and interpretation of wildlife data to support the conservation, understanding and enjoyment of local biodiversity.”
For further information read about the East of England Local Records Centres services
We can provide site citations, maps and GIS boundaries (subject to Ordnance Survey Licencing) for Statutory Sites (Sites of Special Scientific Interest, National Nature Reserves & Local Nature Reserves) & Non-Statutory Sites (Local Wildlife Sites, Potential Wildlife Sites, Local Geological Sites, Protected Wildflower Verges, Pocket Parks & Wildlife Trust Reserves).
Our database contains over one million species records, both current and historic. Working with our county recorders and in partnership with external groups, we hold data exchange agreements that support high quality & regularly updated datasets. We hold information across a range of taxa including notable & protected species and invasive species.
Species Groups Held: Bryophytes & Lichens, Amphibians and Reptiles, Beetles, Birds, Butterflies, Diptera (Flies) Dragonflies, Hymenoptera (Bees, Wasps and Ants), Bumblebees, Crayfish, Centipedes, Millipedes, Woodlice and Water Lice, Crickets and Grasshoppers, Mammals (excluding Bats & Badger group records – please contact us for the details of local groups), Moths (Macro and Micro), Spiders, Vascular plants, ferns and fern allies.
Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) habitats are mapped in all Local Wildlife Sites (LWS) and Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) sites in Northamptonshire and are updated as new information becomes available.
